Elwood P. Dowd is an agreeable man with a liking for the bottle. His best friend is Harvey, an invisible, six-foot-tall rabbit. Harvey, however is not helping Elwood's sister Veta find a respectable husband for her daughter, Myrtle Mae. Perhaps a stay in Chumley's Rest Home will cure Elwood and help Myrtle Mae's chances? This screwball comedy has an exceptionally funny cast of characters and offers laughs from beginning to end. Playwright Mary Chase won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1945 for Harvey and the show was a Broadway hit later adapted for cinema. Harvey is, at its heart, about acceptance and tolerance, as important a message today as it was in 1945. By the end of the play, it is impossible not to fall in love with Elwood and equally hard not to believe in Harvey...just a little
