At our May meeting we approved $22,000 to purchase 10 Ramsey Coote Instruments Bell and Pad Alarms for children with urinary incontinence. Currently, HNEkidshealth has only 2 alarms and waitlist of over 20 patients at any time. The new alarms will allow the team to service 30 children per year!
At our May meeting we approved $9,965 to purchase 3 micro dissection and reconstruction sets. These are specialised surgical instruments that improve patient outcomes of hypospadias surgery.
HYPOSPADIAS: a congenital disorder of the penis in which the urethra does not open from its usual location in the head of the penis. It is the second-most common birth abnormality of the male reproductive system, affecting about one of every 250 males at birth.
These surgical sets will allow better, more frequent repairs without breaching theatre times as well as at outreaching hospitals.
At our May meeting we approved $1,578.50 for a Concept2, Inc. Model D2 Rower with Pm5 Monitor for Paediatric Physiotherapy.

Elwood P. Dowd is an agreeable man with a liking for the bottle. His best friend is Harvey, an invisible, six-foot-tall rabbit. Harvey, however is not helping Elwood's sister Veta find a respectable husband for her daughter, Myrtle Mae. Perhaps a stay in Chumley's Rest Home will cure Elwood and help Myrtle Mae's chances? This screwball comedy has an exceptionally funny cast of characters and offers laughs from beginning to end. Playwright Mary Chase won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1945 for Harvey and the show was a Broadway hit later adapted for cinema. Harvey is, at its heart, about acceptance and tolerance, as important a message today as it was in 1945. By the end of the play, it is impossible not to fall in love with Elwood and equally hard not to believe in Harvey...just a little
